On Sunday the 26th November I was one of the lucky people that got to attend Harry Styles’ concert at Enmore Theatre in Sydney.
I have grown up listening to One Direction since they were formed in 2010 on The X Factor UK, and I have been to all their tours and majority of their appearances they have done in Sydney, so of course I had to go to their solo concerts while the band is currently on hiatus. And let me tell you, Harry did not disappoint on Sunday night. He is a true star with one hell of a voice.
Harry rocked the stage in a pink suit that only he could pull off (and he looked absolutely gorgeous) while performing all ten songs from his new solo album ‘Harry Styles’ along with some covers.
I was right in the middle of the mosh pit, which I have to admit was definitely an experience. I have never been so squashed in my life, and I didn’t know what sweat on my body was mine (I know, how disgusting), but when it comes to Harry Styles himself, how could I not get up close so I could his handsome face and his beautiful features?! Girls were being pulled out by security left right and centre from it being so claustrophobic but that didn’t stop the rest of us from having the best night.
Harry took the time to congratulate Australia on the recent same-sex marriage survey by saying “I’d like to say a massive congratulations to your country…for waking up.”
Fans were given a rainbow flag while lining up before the concert, and were instructed to have them out when Harry sung his hit single ‘Sign of the Times’ in order to acknowledge that the venue is a safe place for the LGBTIQ+ community, as well as celebrating the fact that the YES votes won, and continue to spread the message that Harry gives at each of his shows which is love, kindness and acceptance. The crowd looked so beautiful when everyone had their flags out, as well as Harry dancing around the stage with his own pride flags when performing ‘Only Angel’.
Throughout the concert, Harry performed One Direction’s first ever single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ which he changed up a bit and turned it into his own. As well as performing another One Direction song ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ which brought back so many wonderful memories of when I saw all the boys perform them on their previous tours.
‘Kiwi’ which is Harry’s latest single was probably the highlight of the night. Harry gets so into it when dancing to this song on stage which makes the fans go crazy as well and makes the atmosphere feel as if you’re at a rock concert in the 80’s.
Harry covered Fleetwood Mac’s song ‘The Chain’ while Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood were in the crowd, which I didn’t know about until I got home and saw photos of them on Twitter, but thats pretty freakin’ cool. Another cover that Harry performed was a song that he wrote called ‘Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart’ but is sung by Ariana Grande, and he made it even better than the original!
I had the time of my life and I can’t wait to see him at his arena shows in Australia next year!
